I have had my goniopora for about 2 months now, he always opened fully. Today there's a small part where he's closed up but the rest is fully open. All parameters are fine
Nitrate 0
Nitrite 0
Ammonia 0
PH 8.1
Sg 1.025
Temp 79
Calcium 480
Mag 1450
Alk about 10

I did clean tank last night and scraped glass etc. I don't think I hit him but not sure. Is this normal behavior? All other corals fine. I haven changed flow at all but did upgrade lighting 2 weeks ago but he was fine up until todau.

I think I figured it out. Everything I clean glass in front. Even though I don't touch him, he must sense it and that part closes up. Just happened again when I was cleaning

No they do not close up usually during the day, it is a indication something is wrong.
Most gonis are very hard to keep, most need lots of food or they die. A few are not to bad like the ORA red goniopora and does well even without to many feedings. Some of the encrusting types are not to bad either.
Goniopora are extremely sensitive to swings in water chemistry and current. KH swings will kill some of them.
Greens to me are the hardest to keep.
I have kept over 20 different varieties my self and have grown them out but personally I am done with all but a few.
They just require too much attention.
They have been my favorite coral for so long too.

I have some that close up even when my hand touches the water. Hard to feed them when they do this.

Mine is well fed and no swings except typical sg with evaporation. He seems fine now except if I hit him or come close while cleaning

Dump question. Are you cleaning the inside or the outside of the glass

Green ones are very though to keep, my red one is doing great after 6 months
