Greetings! Looking for a gonipora food recommendation that does not raise phosphates or nitrates if it exist. Grateful!

I don’t directly feed these days. But since I’m trying some new things like Manganese this week……

They don't need food - just feed the fish and the fish poo feeds the coral.
That is all they need.

I have goniopower and I don’t see them eat it in any way. I’ve tried several small micron powder foods and liquid foods. Coral frenzy, benereef, reef energy ab+

the only thing I’ve ever been able to get them to eat is refrigerated bottled copepods and only some of my Goni eat it.

If anyone out there has a food their Goni eats and you actually see them eat it, let me know ;)

I’m beginning to think they are more like a combination of photosynthetic off light and filter feeders consuming micro particles and nutrients from the water

Reef energy ab + is actually a maybe from me. I feel I’ve seen positive response some of the time but my experimenting was halted because I ran out

From my experience they eat meaty foods. People have it all wrong with all those tiny dusty foods. Any video I've seen with the dusty foods the polyp retracts due to being blown on.
My thought with any LPS is look at the mouth size and feed accordingly.

I don't feed any of my gonis and have had them for years. I've seen them grab chunks of food and fully consume it. I consider them opportunistic feeders.

I didn't follow through on this as was going to take a while but here's an example. click on the pic for the video

I see mine eat the gonipower.

I only feed every other week or so.

I have never seen mine grab meaty foods.

Generally speaking though most corals are opportunistic feeders. If you feed your fish enough you shouldn’t have any worries. My tank contains a TON of corals and a small amount of fish in comparison.

When feeding Gonis the idea is to light dust them with the powder food (mixed with water). I think tidal gardens has a video on it.

@JGT do you feed your Gonis?

I do not feed my gonis or corals. At least not in the traditional sense of the word feeding. Indirectly they are getting fed by feeding my fish, fish poop and the occasional phyto dosing but nothing beyond that.

I agree that my Goni's are fine on fish poop with the occasional small piece of mysis that comes their way. Proper flow and lighting are def pretty important to keeping them healthy and fully extended.
