Gonipora help

We have a lovely Gonipora for approximately 4 months, we noticed a small growth on its side tonight so when he went to sleep we lifted him off his rock and were surprised to see the following growth on his base - it feels firm but a little spongey - any ideas??? - he is fine in himself

We have a lovely Gonipora for approximately 4 months, we noticed a small growth on its side tonight so when he went to sleep we lifted him off his rock and were surprised to see the following growth on his base - it feels firm but a little spongey - any ideas??? - he is fine in himself

So question is - good or bad, do we try and remove it, or is it a sign its growing?

Just a sponge , you can scrape it off
