Gonipora not growing?

I have had this Goni for about a years time. I can't get it to grow, and now it has a sponge growing next to it. I have it behind my rock work on the sand bed. The tank is thirty inches deep with Radions @70% intensity. I do feed it Reef roids, but haven't been feeding that long. Any suggestions?

I think it is the certain species of Gonipora, may not do could in captivity.

Get rid of the sponge ... it'll outgrow and suffocate the Goni!!

As long as your tank has nutrients and sufficient lighting, you're good to go. May wanna feed some Reef Roid etc.

Im swapping my LED’s today and hope to see a improvement in all my corals.

I even try feeding it Reef roids through a cut bottle top( funnel ) so it lingers around it longer but no response ever seen

Goni's are strange. Sometimes they look great and grow and other times they look like ****. Mine seems to do best with good moderate flow.

Mine hasn’t grown in 6 months either, pretty disappointing. I believe I hav3 the same type. I’ve tried feeding coral frenzy with no response. Mine is midway up to the side under a Radion at 70%.

I have a green one in about 120 par and high flow that is growing well. But I also have a red one in about 250 par and moderate flow that’s not growing at all.

The green one really started taking off when I started dosing nitrate. I used to have zero nitrate, now I keep it around 2ppm.

I think mine is down around 70 to 80 par at the bottom. I've started dosing nitrate and phosphate and the goni is much happier. Full extension and fat stalks. Of course next week it might be different.. lol

It has grown substantially. I keep my nitrates between 5 and 12. Mine don't really seem to care about PAR. I have had them in various PAR under metal halides and they always seem to be happy. I haven't taken an image of just the pink one to really compare growth, but it's up front in this image.

I’ve read that the difference between Goni and alevapora are the petals. Goni has 24 and alevapora has 12

I find that when I first started this hobby ... a lot of corals didn't thrive and would die or melt away. I've even heard from my lfs about how a lot of reefers have a tough time keeping Gonis which is a good reason for me to collect more nice Gonis
