What's with my goni

Mine usually retract at night. One thing I've found that helps gonis thrive is to get them off the sand. Placing them on a small piece of live rock is all you have to do.

It was very happy where it is until I did a 50% WC a few weeks back. It has since receded quite a bit. Only now starting to open up more. No more 50% WC for me
Gonis don’t like clean water. They prefer dirty water. That’s probably why you saw a reaction. Mine do the same thing when I siphon my sand. I wouldn’t sweat that. But I’ve never seen my gonis he swell up like yours did.

I'm finding many of my lps/softies like higher nitrate. I probably will keep my nitrate 15-20. Try for a medium

My goni looked horrible for a month when my nitrates went up to 16. Below 10 ppm she came back

Mine was very well extended when I first put it in with NO3 40+. Then I did 50% WC and dropped NO3 to less than 20. It has not fully extended since. NO3 now back up to 40+ and Goni is starting to extend again.
Hammers, Torches, GSP, Mushrooms, Coralimorphs all look great at current NO3 levels.
