Its been a long time since Gonipora has been easier to keep and Ive been seeing some real nice ones for sale lately.
Is one color harder to keep then the other???
Is one color going for more money ?
I see a red one I want but need to know more about them.

The red ORA ones are plenty tough. We have a local reefer that has fragged it dozens of times and I have a part of it.

Big G. Thanks for the link.
Hart. That’s what I’m looking for but it was priced high for me. Was wondering.

Love that Goni. Mine died. Many have success with these.

If you are going to go with on red seem to do the best. Specially if you get one aquacultured .

DW how long did you have it and what color?
Mine was a red ora just like hart’s. Definitely go for this one even though it’s costly. I read a lot before I got it and you will have the best chance of success with it. Mine died after about 2 years. It was a casualty of my dinos that have been haunting me starting about a year ago.

Actually, I must tell a secret. I just noticed yesterday that some polyps were coming back very faintly after I’ve assumed it to be dead for months! Very excited to see this. Also see some montipora polyps coming back. I’m stoked!

Goniopora is not as hard a coral to maintain. The problem is that many aquarists have them growing in an aquarium that has very little nutrients, nitrates and phosphates. They live in very turbid areas of reefs in lagoons where water quality is less than optimum for growing many SPS coral. They need to be target fed with food high in iron and manganese.
The pink and purple species tend to be more hardy than the short green colored ones. You may also try Alveopora as it is more hardy than its cousin.

You need to check out frags2fishes. I have ordered from there 2 times & his stuff is amazing. I have a goniopora frag from there that's doing great. Prices are great on coral & fish. His $10 frags are the size of a colony from anywhere else. Only drawback is that he doesn't get all his stuff listed on website. If you don't see what you want ask. He responded very quickly thru messenger & was very helpful!
