Hello,

I have a 300 gal mixed reef, with about 150 gal refugium system. Long story short I had been using reef crystals (orange box) for about the past year. It has a higher alk when mixed. I have thus raised my Alk to closer match the salts mixed so I am running about 10.5 alk level in my tank. I have two questions I am hoping to get impute on.

10.5 is within the standard allowable range 8.0-12.0, but should I try to lower? or am I o.k.? I seem to be getting good growth. Are there any pro's or cons to running at the level I am. It seems most reefers like to run mid 8's, or low 9's.

I am thinking of switching to Tropic Marin Pro salt mix. which is at about 8.4 out of the box...... Would it be a good switch? or should I stick with what has been working. I hate to rock the boat, and don't know if I should (or need) to get my alk lower.

Appreciate any impute Thanks!

If it ain't broke don't fix it. As long as it's consistent 10.5 is perfect
