I didn't think I have enough coral to need to dose Ca, but apparently I do. I seem to be using about 5ppm a day. I don't think I need daily dosing, and don't plan on automating it. I was thinking about using Seachem Reef Complete but that also has Mg, which I don't need. I have almost no evaporation so using kalkwasser for top off won't do much.

My Ca last night was 335 and my alk was 9.35. I didn't test Mg last night but on 9/29 it was 1460.

Last time I tested all 3 was on 9/21:
Mg: 1300
Ca: 350
Alk: 9.8

Ph is stead at 8.1 and salinity at 1.025. 32g biocube with 30 lbs. live rock, a small trachy, a 5 head duncan, a 1" monti frag, 1" war party favia, and some zoas.

Check out Carbocalcium from Tropic Marin. Newest thing which adds Alk and Ca in 1 product and has (as far as I know) no downsides except that you do dose the 2 parts in 1. The bottle is not that price friendly but they have a powder which makes it one of the cheapest solutions available.

I don't need the Alk boost though. How much would it boost it?

Alk and Ca are connected so if one would be used, the other one needs to be dosed as well. Normally it would be used in a 1:7 way but it might be a little off. So dosing the 2 products in 1 dose actually makes the most sense.

If you want to read more about the product you can check https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/has-anyone-tried-tropic-marin-bio-calcium-or-carbo-calcium.410153/ , but its a new way that allows these 2 parts which would otherwise not be in 1 bottle, to get into 1 bottle so you can dose both. I'm looking into it right now (actually in the all in one solution) which also has Magnesium and all other trace elements. Basically resulting in 1 bottle for everything.

Calcium cant be consumed by corals without consuming alk. Alk however can be consumed by other processes without affecting calcium.

So, it's a good idea to dose all if you are supplementing for calcium.
