Hello,

I am looking for an anemone for my Darwin clown pair to host but I have an SPS dominant tank and I am unsure of what species is a good candidate for my tank. I have 2 tanks (one 60 2'x2' Cube and 120g 4'x2'x2') and want one for each tank that is not going to sting everything in it's path. I have alot of other fish in the tanks from dwarf angels to wrasses. Initially I was looking at a blue carpet but heard not a good choice as it will catch my curious fishes.

What would be some of the better choices. Something colorful would be nice too.

Thanks

Any nem will move around at first, and sometimes randomly after months of being in the same spot. Bit a haddoni or a lta that stays in the sand may be possible, depending on depth of sand and lighting. Otherwise maybe isolate a rock "island" on the sand bed for the nem to be stranded on.

I second the sand dwelling type of anemone if you want to take the risk. This reduces the chance of killing your sps if/when it moves around your tank. If you have a spot that keeps it happy it may not move at all once it settles in. My LTA has moved only 2-3x in the 2.5 years I've had it and two of those times were upon initial introduction when it moved twice wthin the first week to find it's spot and when I moved it to the new tank - it moved just once to find a spot to settle into. The drawback here is that they can get very large ..... at this point mine is alrealdy over a foot in diameter when opened up!

Would a Rose BTA be any better? How bad would the sting be on SPS from a BTA? I am looking at a Rainbow anemone or a Rose. I have seen many tanks with them in it and they look fantastic. Thanks for the replies

When i added my RBTA it moved for the first week. I hade to move sps out of the way and remount elsewhere so they would not get stung and die. But it has found a happy place and all is well.. My 40 breeder is 100% sps! It can be done but you will have to keep a close eye in the beginning and be willing to get your hands wet and rearrange a few things.. HTH! :nerd:
