Hey guys,
Do you guys know of any good auto top offs? Something affordable please, not looking to spend $200. I just want an affordable and good auto top off.

I have a 30 gallon rimless tank. Had a biocube and evaporation wasn't a problem, but with rimless, water evaporation is a killer! At least half a gallon a day. Any advice?

I wouldn't trade my Spectrapure UPLC-II for anything on the market, period. They don't come any better or more reliable. In 8.5 years I have replaced exactly one silicone peristaltic tube which lasts about 5 years on average. I couldn't imagine anything more cost effective or reliable.

What exactly do you buy on the website? Is this diy?

You can buy it in DIY form or you can buy the pre-made controller that includes bracket, float switch(es), and solenoid. Pump isn't included if memory serves me.

I just purchased from them the other day. I got just the controller with latching relay so i can have a high and low. This is for my ato container that is hooked on a solenoid to my Rodi. But yeah they have whole kit that includes controller 120v or 12v dc it comes with two floats one is a fail safe, bracket. You need to purchase solenoid seperate if you are using solenoid. Not sure if they sell pumps i didnt look. I have autotop off. Com setup in my 5g ato reservoir to turn on when low float is triggered and to turn off water supply when top float is triggered to avoid tds creep. Than i have Tunze Osmolator pulling from ATo into the sump.

I had the auto aqua one before not the micro version but regular one. I liked it but one thing it would do was when i put in feed mode and return would go off the water level in sump would rise and when return pump kicks in again and levels out to normal water level the ato would start beeping and not work until i unplugged it and plugged back in again i guess to reset itself. This did not happen all the time but sometimes. This is ok when im home but i was always on edge when i went away for a few days or vacation.

Thats my next ATO.

I am using the Hydor Smart Level and it seems to work well. I first bought it about 9 months ago, for my first tank. However, my first tank was a standard tank without a overflow or sump. I say that because the gap between the 'low' and 'high' sensor is about 1/2 inch and the SG swing was higher than if I just topped it off everyday. That said, I now have an AIO tank and can actually use this ATO with great results. I set mine in the middle chamber where the water level is affected most.

The draw back with the Hydor smart level is you have to find the right pump. It doesn't come with a pump. The Tom's aqua lifter that every suggests doesn't work for my needs. I went with the Avast peristaltic pump($100).

If i could do it over again, The Smart ATO Micro is what I would get. That ATO comes with the pump.

Tunze Baby
i have the nano on my 29 and 40 breader works great had both for over a year works Great!
have the larger tunze ATO in my larger tanks also works great

Same here, i use avast marine. Its pressure switch, so its hard to fail. I also use the peristatic pump to pump in limewater very slowly.

I was planning on going with Tunze Osmolator, but after reading about the spectrapure suggested by @AZDesertRat , I think I'm going to go that way. I have an RO/DI made by them and it is awesome. The built in redundancies in the SpectraPure Auto Top-Off System - UPLC-II - LLC-UPLC-II are very appealing and it's not that more $$$$
