Hi all. I have started to look into corals for my 57g. We are getting set up in December. Would I be able to keep a hammer? Any suggestions I will look into. Thanks in advance!
Hammer's are definitely doable, Euphilia (Hammers, Frogspawn, Torches, etc.) in general probably wouldn't be the literal FIRST coral I would get, but they're relatively hardy and don't need a ton of light. They're pretty susceptible to certain diseases though. Something like a Leather or Kenya tree are probably a better idea.

Soft corals like zoanthids and leather corals are pretty easy to keep. You add an additional layer of difficulty when you start keeping stoney corals like hammers. I recommend keeping water and fish first. When you can reliably keep water parameters where you like them, that's when you should try more difficult coral, provided you have the lighting for it.
