Good beginner inverts?

I’m looking for some good inverts to start with. Preferably no snails. I was thinking a cleaner shrimp or scarlet hermit crabs. How hardy are they?

cleaner shrimp are pretty hardy. the only downside I have is they steal food from my lps.

Of you looking for look and function these shrimps are cool colores and most have good function

Generally most hermit crabs and crabs are hardy and carry a good value to the system.

For urchins I have found the blue tuxedo urchin to be hardy and adaptive.

most inverts are hardy as long your tank is cycled. Its pretty hard to kill hermit crabs and snails. I wouldn't add a urchin or sand shifting star but most snails and brittle stars are easy.

Is it true that hermits don’t tolerate nitrates at all? My friend has a bunch in his system and oftentimes the nitrate spikes up to 80 ppm

well your nitrates should never get that high in a reef. Tell us more about your system

It’s not my system with 80 ppm lol, my tank is in its final stages of cycling with nitrates around 5ppm atm

Well every animal no matter how hardy eikl have a limit. 80ppm nitrate tells me there might even be ammonia and nitrite...
Withen reasonable range these are all hardy.
What are your parameters?
