i was looking for inverts that are a little more unusual (no hermits or snails) but are still fairly hardy. What would be a good addition to my 3 gallon nano tank from these species?

Porcelain crab
Sexy shrimp
Peppermint shrimp

One of my first additions was a porcelain (anemone) crab. I love it. It will find a host either in a coral, nem or just a rock. Mine never went to my nem. It stays in the same spot for a few weeks then wonders off to a new spot. They filter feed only so you need to make sure they get something to eat. If only feeding pellets, I don’t think they’ll get enough food in the column. When I feed reef roids to my corals, the crab comes out and tries to steal the food, so I always give him a good dose.

Peppermint shrimp are known to pick at corals. So if you have corals, be aware. I think most people add them in hopes of them eating aiptasia.

Pacific cleaner shrimp are my favorite. They’re easy to care for and are so helpful in the tank. They’ll clean any fish that lets it. They’ll dance around the tank; especially during feeding time. If you put your arm in the tank, they’ll pick at you and in a friendly manner.
