4 months ago I upgraded the lighting on my 10g from cheap Chinese LEDs to an ai prime 16. Ever since this upgrade my coral growth has increased massively but recently I’ve noticed some odd behaviour.
my lights are on for twelve hours a day with a two hour ramp, both on and of. The lights run at 60% for most parts of the spectrum, (minus red green etc) during this twelve hour period.
Recently I’ve noticed most of my corals don’t show full polyp extension until around 4pm (six hours after the lights go on). could this be due to too much light blasting them for such a long period of time? this 10g is exclusively stocked with softies so this much light is most probably overkill. Apart from this unsightly behaviour I’m not noticing any health problems. Should I consider fiddling around with LEDs or just leave them alone?
