And a happy Mother's Day to all the fish moms on here! I just wanted to introduce myself - I am pretty much a total newbie to the hobby, and do not currently have any tanks, but I have been dreaming for years of setting up a saltwater tank. I live in Los Angeles, where we seem to have many excellent aquarium stores, that I have always hoped to patronize. But, I am a little overwhelmed by how much I need to learn, and I realize it will probably be a few years of educating myself and trial and error before I can live my dream of sitting and watching my beautiful fish swim around, but I have to start somewhere, and this knowledgeable and friendly forum seemed like a great place to start.

In terms of what I do know - as a kid, I had several freshwater + planted tanks, and my brother and I once successfully set up a small (60g) saltwater tank. That was many years ago, so I don't have any current knowledge or recollection that can aid me now, but I think I do have a sense of "knowing what I don't know".... which is a lot. So if anyone wants to point me to the articles, resources, etc., that you think someone should read and research before they do anything else, I would be most grateful. And maybe it will turn out that starting with a saltwater tank is not even a feasible or good idea, in which case that would be good to know, as well. Looking forward to chatting with you all!

Welcome to R2R!!!

Also, the Bulk Reef Supply 52 weeks of reefing videos are great tools.

Welcome!! I too am just starting out with a 29 gal and have 2 clownfish. I suggest you read Ron Reefman's articles here. Bulk Reef Supply company has many great videos on every aspect of the hobby. I also have read books from the library. Everyone's advice is to go slow and have patience! Good luck!

Welcome to R2R. In each section of R2R there are threads labeled as sticky. When I was a beginner I would search through each section and look at the sticky threads. They usually have tips for beginners. :) Then again you can just post a thread asking a question and many will answer. Another thing I did was I found someone and just used them to bounce questions off of.
