Good Morning!

He is not into my fish tanks at all.

Same...his idea of a water change would be dumping a bucket of tap water into the tanks. Salt? What do you mean I have to add salt?? He has managed to keep them running when I've had to be out of town. I leave a typed 2-page instruction sheet.

Mibu, those are beautiful pictures, smoking building and all. :D

I went fishing this morning and between the 3 of us, I caught one porgy. Not much of a meal but I will eat it.

It was very windy so when you casted into the surf, you had to be careful that the hook and sinker didn't fly back and hit you on the head. ;Bucktooth

I parked my Jeep right near the surf and we had a great time.
My tackle is so old that I took out a package of porgy hooks and it still had the price on it.
40 cents. Today those probably sell for four bucks.

But my 40 cent hook was the only thing that caught a fish today. :D

Good morning
It is quiet in the house again. I am going to make some coffee and enjoy it.
I haven't even been in the fish room for 2 days. I hope there are no looming disasters waiting. I do see fish swimming around over there so I don't think anything unrecoverable has happened yet.

Today I think I will get some soda ash from the fish room and use it to make pretzels. Or I could go get some drain cleaner at Home Depot. 100% lye would also work.
Decisions, decisions

The lye is supposed to work better.

Old way to cook
Get some butter, eggs, flour, salt, sugar, baking powder, milk, vanilla and mix it up. cook it in the iron.
Makes tasty waffles

New way to cook.
Get some stuff in a box. Mix in some liquid. Cook in the iron
Makes things that look like tasty waffles but taste like biscuits, pancakes or anything else you could make from the stuff in the box. Doesn't taste bad at least.

Old way to reef
Put a piece of shrimp or a small fish in a tank with saltwater and some rocks that have come from the sea.
Wait with great anticipation and your tank will get going slowly as you add one or 2 new things each week. Some things that were on the rocks will already be in the tank and be exciting to watch. You are hooked and have a cool lifetime hobby.

Put saltwater in tank. Add bottle A and 35 drops of bottle B. Wait. You can see nothing happening. Add more. Still nothing happening. Wait with great angst. Guy at LFS says it's all good. Buy $562 worth of animals from guy. Wait. Almost all of them die. Cry on internet. Get condolences from people that did same thing.
The things that died act like the piece of shrimp you could have started with and there was enough bacterial diversity on the corpses that the tank finally starts. Try again or quit. Okay try again but be forever cautious and unable to trust the tank.

I also use the iron to roast my coffee. Works like a charm.

I love the old way to reef. Set all 3 of my reefs up this way, not looking to change anytime soon.

Good morning! Coffee should be here today. I need to roast a new batch.

Torch is pouty, but perhaps in better shape than yesterday. Indo torches don't like me. Maybe I might buy another aussie and see.

Good Morning!
The first batch of Woodpecker Sap is boiling on the stove. This is a concoction that woodpeckers love. i try to set some out when they are nesting but the big mosquito flies hog it all until the fall when they disappear.
4 cups of water boiled on stove, add one cup of sugar, when it comes back to a boil, remove from heat and cool. (up to you whether you turn the heat off, depends on whether the stove is your heat source for the home) after cool hang in simulated tree trunk and watch the action.

now i am using that pan to make sweet oatmeal; saves rinsing!

What a great weekend at RAP Chicago! Flying home today!

Good morning
Awoke yesterday with severe pain in my right leg and ended up at the ER. After xrays and ultrasounds I found out some new things things I don't have and they set me home with crutches and my pain.
I am supposed to call this other doctor today and ask him to get me in ASAP (It says that on my discharge instructions).

After hobbling around on the crutches my left leg hurts now as well but not as much as the right one.
I wish I knew a good witch or shaman so I could get some stuff fixed.
Doctors are completely worthless.

Yesterday we took a ferry with some friends to Connecticut to go to some interesting places.
On the way this submarine sailed next to us.

I think they were going out to collect some NSW and they heard on this forum that they shouldn't collect it from the surface because of all the Coppertone. So they were going deep

I had forgotten!! My first reef tank (46 bowfront) started with a bunch of rocks, a container of saltwater pumped from the LFS system, and a piece of shrimp. That was October of 2008. My boys were in high school, and a young reefer neighbor helped with my tank. Years later, my guys and the same young reefer were groomsmen in each other's weddings. :)

We would gather with flashlights at night and stare at.....rocks. My husband asked every day when we could add fish....not yet....not yet....not yet. We added a CUC and that was so exciting! Finally, something to watch other than rocks! I tested and tested and watched the parameters stabilize enough to add 2 fish, a mated O. clown pair. His "mate" died after about 5 years, but "baby clown" is still alive and well in my 90. He's the only survivor from my original fish stock in 2008.

Thanks for the memories. ;Joyful

Good morning! Is it too early to say I'm tired of cold weather? The last two mornings have been in the upper 30's. I am NOT a cold weather person. I like warm sunshine and tropical breezes. Not many tropical breezes in TN, but we do get warm sunshine.

Have a great Tuesday! :)
