Something that I've found to help stop back siphon is to drill a small hole in the line before it exits your reservoir. Some water will get pumped back into the reservoir, but when the pump stops the hole will allow in air and break the siphon

That can definitely work. That is essentially what the reverse siphon break connector is that came with the kit - it is a plastic barbed connector with an angled hole.

I use these on a smooth surface and then cable tie the stuff. You get these at Home Depot or somewhere like that. peel and stick

Thanks for all the great comments, my daughter is really excited...BUT a 3rd clownfish may prove to be impossible in a 40 breeder, we'll see soon enough.
I had aggression issues after 5 minutes so I made a custom acclimation box from an overflow box I had sitting around.
Everything I've read says the pair of established clowns will kill the 3rd clownfish, we're hoping to avoid that at all costs.
I guess worst case scenario I'll have to trade him at LFS for something that will go into our tank peacefully.

I agree that you shouldn’t add the third clown - sounds like a great excuse to set up another tank!

I hear ya on the photons. I have them over one of my aggressive tanks and same thing.

100% whites.
