To clear the air ... someone labeled me a cat hater last night. While I get that was a joke, I do want to say that no - I do not hate cats. I do have a healthy fear of them. I have been bitten and scratched by cats on multiple occasions. I generally believe that cats know that I am team dog thus they exact their revenge accordingly. I recognize that they are cute, have sandpaper tongues and they are every bit as important to their fur parents as dogs are. I simply keep my safe distance. I do not want anyone to be offended in the misbelief that I hate cats. With all of the passing and illnesses happening to our furbabies of late, that would be very insensitive. I have nothing against your cat, just please do not ask me to pet it.

Exactly! The ones that irk me are the clients that you tell up front that you are not comfortable around cats and they literally shove it in your face and tell you to pet it. It was one of those, "my cat loves everybody" cats that bit me on the shoulder. That same cat (Bengal) bit a plumber on the thigh while he was under sink. If I have people working at my house, I secure my dogs. I don't require anyone to secure their pets but it is basic courtesy to not expect someone to pick it up, pet it or allow it to walk on someone's computer. Cat fangs hurt ... just saying.
i'm crazy when it comes to all animals... the kids did take the wild ornate box turtle back to the closest pond ,from where they found him,was not happy about it ,but am now...

Remember my monster three-stripe damsel who was banished to the BioCube for messing with my Kole tang? And I kindly rehomed him back into the 90? That fish attacks me every time my arm in the tank now. I guess it didn't like timeout in the BioCube. I just chase it with the tongs. Ungrateful fish!Morning All!
I feel like I may have started this whole cat discussion with my post about Toby yesterday.
I also hate when people try to force someone to interact with their pets. Most critters need to warm up to people before they will interact positively with them.
All 3 of our cats get put in the bedroom with the door closed when someone comes over. To protect them ( the visitors) AND our furry/feathered family members.
My Sister-In-Law was visiting a few years back and despite us telling her not to pick up our cat, (Bush Kitty, who has a bad back) she did anyway and did further injury to her back. She needs to be cradled when she is lifted.
My Mother-In-Law poked her finger into our African Grey‘s cage and he opened her up like a can of tuna. Very friendly bird but he didn’t know her and she was wearing bright red nail polish. Bright red is a sign of danger to most animals.
Folks need to respect ALL animals whether they are wild or domesticated.

The most aggressive critter in our house is my female Clown. She attacks every time I reach into my tank.

We used to have a husky that could ALWAYS sense if someone was afraid of them. She would run around them in tight circles as fast as she could. She would never growl or bark, just terrify. It got embarrassing sometimes.

Wow, you were very fortunate to have her for 17 years! I grew up with a Doberman, who knew immediately when someone was scared of her (which was generally everybody). I had a friend over one day and he decided to go out the sliding glass door for some reason. I wondered where he went, then I saw her barking up a tree. Yep, there he was, up the tree! ;Hilarious
