Good Morning!

orange moon.jpeg

Check out the "moon" early this morning while I was looking for the sunrise. I only discovered it was the moon from the news where they said the moon appeared orange from a fire in Texas thousands of miles away.

Very cool.
I saw that on the news last night. Although they said smoke from west coast fires. Gonna have some hazy days because of the fires too. It does make the moon look cool though.

Good morning everyone!

FWIW, my cats are awesome! Just ask them.

My sister didn’t do as well on her driver’s-ed test as she’d hoped. It might have had something to do with how she completed this sentence on the written exam: “When the ______ is dead, the car won’t start.” She wrote: “Driver.”

Morning/Afternoon everyone.
Spent part of the morning thinning out the HUGE mimosa tree in the back yard. They grow like weeds and I have to trim it with the pole say about once a month or else it blocks the satellite dishes. Now that the flowers are dropping, it just makes such a mess on the deck and fills our rain gutters.
TOMORROW , it’s coming down. It will grow back, which is nice but it will be a few years till I have to take it down again.
Its growing over the house and deck so it needs to be guided down away from the house. I had to climb about 25’ up it to get pull ropes on it. My buddy is coming by tomorrow morning so he can pull with the ATV while I cut.
If Angela was home and saw my sorry old butt climbing that tree, I’d be on a permanent “time out”!
Hard to tell from the pictures but the ropes are about 30’ up in the tree.

beautiful tree

beautiful tree
I agree. They are very pretty and attract a ton of butterflies. They are just so messy and invasive. I’m constantly pulling little seedlings before they send down a tap root. Once that happens, you can’t kill them. Believe it or not, this tree was cut to the ground when we bought the place 5 years ago. It’ll come back just fine. We have others out front for the butterflies to feed on that don’t hang over the house.

Must be tree cutting day. They just showed up and cleared the wooded lot next to my house. I'm crushed. There were scrub jay nests in there. (They look like Blue Jays to us Yankees and they are protected in Florida.) It used to mean that you could not disturb a protected area. Now they pay the county $2500 to "relocate" the birds. I always wondered who sends out the change of address cards to the birds? I'm pretty sure they can't read.
There is this enormous birch tree that we have loved seeing out our daughters old bedroom window. It's just stunning. Fingers crossed that they do not take it down.
We figured this was coming - some people call it progress. We started putting out food for the critters a few months ago. They may be scrambling for shelter tonight but at least they will know where to find a meal.

And there goes the birch tree..... two of us could have held hands and not been able to hug that tree. I'm just heartbroken. It was a few feet over my line, no reason to take it down.

Morning Friends!
well, today is tree day. I hope my buddy Brian gets here early enough to get this done before the sweltering heat and humidity. Air quality is going to be poor again today. Not even a breeze blowing and with the sun coming up, the sky is a yellowish brown. Scratchy throat and burning eyes from yesterday.
So, this is kind of funny. I went out to soak in the spa yesterday. It was not used in a few days so it went into sleep mode. When I turned on the pumps, it foamed up so bad it looked like some kind of I Love Lucy thing. The foam was about a foot tall on top of the water. Water quality was good according to my test strips. I wound up draining and refilling it. It’s been a few months so I guess it was time. Not sure what caused the foam but I laughed pretty hard.
Have a great day Everyone!

Good morning, Reefies!
Woke up to blinding light pouring in from the windows on the left of my house. My poor fish were all on the right side of the tank freaking out. We've never needed blinds there. I guess I do now.
Hubby went out last night and found a piece of root that had shooters coming off if it. After a few beers, he collected it and put it in a plant bucket. It is now sitting haphazardly on my back lanai. I guess we'll get some rooting hormone and appropriate planting medium - whatever that is - and see what we can do to give the tree a second life.
All of my appointments for today cancelled. So I need to go find something work related to do or else I am going to sit here, stare out that window and eat my weight in chocolate covered pretzels.
@Mike from TN Good Luck on the tree cutting. Those trees are stunning but they are like zombies! I have a hibiscus like that. Cut it back every year and in two months, it's twice the size. Good plan to prep the hot tub, sounds like you are going to need it later.

Good Morning Reefies!
My Chromis are the signal guys. they notice the food first and then the other fish come across the tank from their favorite spots to feed,
My RBTA has moved 300 degrees around the rock looking for a good spot since i changed the lights. Funny, but he seems to be maintaining his depth as he goes around, about 3 inches lower than his spot under the twin Current USA LED's. He probably is not finished moving.
