Good morning
2am. The bung came loose in my stock tank I mix water in. Emergency drain into 3 Brut cans.
5am Install the wind deflectors that came for the Subaru. Hurry, light rain.
9am Head to tractor supply. The internet says they have a bung kit.
9:13 Screw it, drink the coffee.

Maybe if I drank some of this it would give me energy. Home brew.

The sump get's more interesting.

I removed 3 pumps and now run the sulfur reactor, GFO reactor, biopellet reactor and fuge from this.
The cheater outlet strip is gone.

I wonder what I can glue that bung in with that wont let go. Silicone didn't hold. The hole is 2 inches. I don't see a normal bulkhead that will fit.

Where is the flux capacitor??

I did it!!! I actually changed the RO/DI filters....as our resident toddler would say "all by self." I had our son on standby in case my "hand tightening" resulted in a leak disaster. Did a little other tank maintenance on the 90 and messed with the Hanna calcium checker again. This time, the distilled water vs RO/DI resulted in about a 10 point difference. Much better. I'm going with the Hanna readings using RO/DI water and will just see what the corals tell me. Calcium reading was 436 with the Hanna, so that's what I'm using as my baseline.

A new bung has been installed using JB Weld WaterWeld, abrasion and fire. The tank is full and nothing leaks.
A leaky bung is no fun.
The denitrator has been up one week. It hit zero nitrates in the output today so I increased the flow. That's really fast according to what I have read. No idea what that means.

I could have so much fun in that room! Both tanks are in my office, which used to be a living room. My "fish room" is a former wet bar, which is between the living room and the den. At least it has a sink and some cabinets to house my RO/DI unit and all of my tank junk...it also works as a bar. I just ordered another cabinet to mount on the wall...I'm going to drill a hole in the bottom and plan to put my calcium doser in there....plus some of the other fish junk. My fish room is always a cluttered mess. I need more space!

Went swimming this morning to raise the skimmer up 2 inches. It is filling the bucket 3 times a day.

Mernin’ Folks!
Possible rain today with mid 90’s. Get this! The forecast for Thursday in Nashville is 99 with a “feels like” of 105-110*. OUCH!
Planning on a water change and return pump cleaning this morning once I can get myself out of neutral and get moving. Little grocery shopping and then mow something if I can beat the rain.

Australian photographer Tim Samuel managed to get a once-in-a-lifetime shot while free diving off The Pass in Byron Bay, on the north coast of New South Wales. The marvelous images present the bizarre sight of a fish stuck inside of a jellyfish. Even more unusual is that, according to Samuel, the trapped fish was able to control where the jellyfish moved, like some sort of twisted version of a living and breathing submarine.


The shots seem to capture the expression of utmost horror (or maybe it's confusion?) on the face of the poor little fish, confined to his jelly-prison. A photographer for over five years, and a surfing instructor before that, Samuel claims to have never seen anything like this in all his years spent in the water.

All show and no go. LOOK AT ME you whippersnappers with your turbos and fart cans.
Constantly variable transmission. No gears. So the computer simulates gear shifts to make the humans happy.
It even has paddle shifters on the steering wheel to shift the gears you don't have.
There was a time when I would have thought this was stupid beyond belief and avoided it.
But it's fun and you cant break anything because the computer just ignores your input if it will hurt the car.

So Vroooom, VRROOOOM. Old guy coming through. Slowly.
