Good Morning!

apparently my corals are addicted to cherry kool aid,
or the test is incorrect.
I dump 1/2 to 3/4 of a cup of food in the tank every day almost. I have to stay on top of nitrates or they explode.
That really didn't matter when I could do a large water change and reset. That is hard to do and expensive with 400 gallons.

I never get the rocks back exactly the same way so it looks like this now.

I cut PVC planks to fit around the new returns and then refitted the screen tops.

An interesting effect is they are shading the back. I guess I will make 2 more and make it the same all the way across.
It might help with stuff growing on/in the overflow.

All fish have been accounted for. No one got squished in the process of moving the rocks down and then back.
Now to clean the hair out of my car and the muck off my tank glass. I am going to try a squeegee after reading about it in a thread. I slop a lot.

Good morning.
Cooler today and much lower humidity.
6th treatment with Dino X and it is starting to look a lot better. Maybe some of that has to do with the fact that two days ago I shut off the lights completely. No corals in there now so no need for lights right? Will keep up with the recommended treatment time.

We hire everything out!
I never hired anyone to do anything except dentists because I can't stand my screaming when I try to put in a toggle bolt to hold in a loose tooth.

I am allergic to paying people to do stuff I can do myself. Gives me a bad rash. My son waits weeks to get his dishwasher replaced or fix his garage door opener. Nope I cant handle that. It's going to be a little tougher without a truck though.

I have to go to Home Depot now.

Good morning! We finally got some good news yesterday :D My stepmom's PET scan came back negative. Diagnosis is stage 1a cancer, which I guess is pretty good if you're gonna get a diagnosis of cancer. There's a long way to go, but it was certainly great news that it hadn't spread anywhere else.

Me to. My Daughter and Son N Law hire people for virtually everything and virtually everything they have is perpetually broken because the "Pro's" they hire are almost 100% Jibonies and the more they spend, it seems the worse the contractors are that they hire.

I would never hire anyone for anything, except maybe brain surgery because I can't reach the top of my head with a cro bar.

I just did a muffler delete on my car. Laying on the ground is fine or working on a step ladder like when I replaced the garage door opener. My hands shake pretty good but I get it done, it just takes a bit longer. No more stuff on the roof or gutter work for me though. I am not safe up there anymore. I have someone coming tomorrow for that to give us an estimate.
The Subaru now sounds interesting.
Next is plumbing. We have a toilet that wont fill (It takes 1/2 hour) and I think a 1/2 inch copper pipe is plugged with solder. I have never done that myself but have heard of it.

allegedly you can now learn most anything on youtube.

i changed the oil in my springer today. i took off the oil filter and compared it to the one that was supposed to fit. the old one has a male thread sticking out of the inside. the new one has a female thread. the bike has a female thread. duh the male thread is supposed to be on the bike. unscrew it from the old filter and thread it, the male/male adapter, into the new filter and then screw it into the female on the bike. done and no leaks. i watched the video on draining the oil but mis-remembered and removed the oil pan plug instead of the oil drain plug. then could not find out what the drain pan plug was, because, you are not supposed to remove it. apparently you can crack the oil pan. oops. no leaks there either and after filling the oil all is good.the bike was in the garage for over 2 years after being overhauled. so even tho there was only 3000 miles on it since the last oil change, my expert said that sitting without running was bad on the oil since condensation was not being evaporated. the good news was that there were absolutely no fines on the plug magnet. and my friends were very helpful. my DIY wounds are because of thin skin that does not stretch like it once did.

Good morning everyone!

Thursday GIF by MOODMAN

I'm not actually sure what a Thursday vibe is, but I'm pretty sure it is Thursday...it is Thursday, right?!?

Good morning everyone! I am enjoying a cup of coffee, so that's good. My dog just rolled in something dead and disgusting, that's bad. Because of my hip problems, someone else will have to wash the dog, so that's really good! I come out ahead in the end! At least that's what I'm telling myself.

I don't know why, but some of my corals are on a big growth spurt. A few months ago I was worried things wouldn't grow and now I want them to slow down. I guess I am going to have to follow Mike's example and have my Evo packed with as much coral as possible. This particularly amazes me - obviously GSP grows fast, but wow. I propped my shell island of GSP against a rock temporarily last week. I just went to move it and it has already grown (no exaggeration) about a half an inch onto the rock. Nature is amazing.

I hope everyone has a fabulous day!

I have a friend who used to run some of the big tanks at Sea World. He showed me around the tops of all the tanks one day. The systems are amazing. They had a Lionfish tank with tons of them in it. The surface had thousands of spines sticking out. I guess they came up because they expected to be fed. It was amazing! They also had a lot of emergency equipment, like a defibrillator, stretcher, etc. in case someone fell in. No body bags though.
