So i won a clam today. Yay. Good news.

When introducing him to the new tank i saw what looks like a shredded byssal foot. Boo bad news.

Ive never bought a roughed up a clam before, can anyone confirm ruined foot and imminent death????

This all new to me, I would suggest setting the clam on a small rock in the sand and see if it reattaches.

I think it will be fine. Most likely it will ditch the threads once acclimated and make new ones to attach once happy. Congrats on the clam by the way, where did you win it?

It's fine and that's normal, all my new clams abyssal thread look like that if not I cut whatever it attaching and it will become like your hahahaha no worries and gratz a Derasa got a cool new owner!

Thanks guys. I won it at the Twin Cities Marine Aquarium Society's Frag Swap. I lost my first deresa during hurricane mathew last year, so I bought 15 raffle tickets, put 6 on the clam (they had 2 and some corals) and 9 on an Apex Jr. I won the second clam, which was my first choice because it was so dark and beautiful, and the Apex Jr and 4 more corals. It was a huge day.

I ended up getting 12 corals in total.

So that makes 3 clams. Im catching up Yuki!!
