I noticed these the other day, and at first thought it was a baby snail. (They are constantly laying eggs) but I also knew I had seen them somewhere before. Figured out they were limpets. Are they the reef safe limpets? Although generally harmless, I've read of some people having trouble with them. They were crawling on my hammer, will they chow down on it?
Good or bad limpets?

As far as I know (and I'm no expert) limpets are algae eaters and should cause problems for your coral... well, at least as far as eating them. They could become over populated and irritate the coral, but I've never heard of that happening. I collect them wild in the Florida Keys when I can and add them to my tank.

I have a lot of these and they do a great job eating algae. I have not had any issues in the year of so they have been in my system. Plus they help replace the snails my hermits have murdered
