I'm currently in the process of upgrading my tank to a 180 gal. I currently have a 125 gal tank. Same length and height just more width. When I first built this scape I didn't know what I was doing. I want to make this new tank sps only. Do you guys think I should copy the same scape or should I rebuild and get different rock?

Hard to tell from the photos...I guess question is do you like your current setup?
I'll get a better picture when I get home. I do but I don't. I feel like the only room for corals is on the top of the rock if that makes sense. I feel like with 2 ft wide it will be easier to layout the rock so to speak. I think I need to see other people scapes without corals especially ones that are going to be sps

This is representative of the natural ocean and is good

Hi, me personal If your rock work can be dismantled without too much damage, I would reuse them, and rebuild, making sure that you can improve on the layout from your previous rock scape. Your rock scape is the the most important part in you tank and you’v got to get it right, which takes time and it’s something you should not rush until you are happy and hey! there’s plenty of help and advice here! on R2R to get your rock scape approved.

Only thing is a lot of my sps are encrusted on the rock. I also don’t really know if I’m a fan of this pic. I got it a while back but not sure if it’s what I need. What do you guys usually use for building sps aquascapes? Assuming it’s dry rock and I can just add it to my tank.

I just want sps to be able to grow throughout and with a piece like this you really can’t because once the pieces get larger they will shade anything below it so everything has to sit on the top

I think I see where you're going with this. You want more real estate for SPS, but you're only adding space front to back. I personally would try to incorporate as much of your established rock as possible. Maybe try more of a sloping rockwork. I didn't give enough thought to my aquascape when I started my 125 either, so I kinda have the same issue. If I had it to do over again, I wouldn't have built my rockwork as tall, and allowed room for more vertical growth. I'm thinking that you will have to browse pictures until you find something that clicks. You do have a great looking tank though. Hope this helps a little bit.

i love your scape, the whole feel of the aquarium is like a dark trench i like it. what square light is that on the left?

Thats a black box t247. They dont sell a 6ft t5 hybrid setup so I had to go with a 4ft and added the kessils. Waiting a little to upgrade the other side. Have other things I gotta pay for first.
