Looking at the tank today and all these little white hairs with dots appeared on my glass overnight. Any idea what they are? Also these little snowflake looking things that look like hydrozoa showed up overnight too, to small to focus camera on. Tank has been running for about 5 weeks only livestock are some hermit crabs, snails, and miscellaneous hitchhikers. I did a small water change yesterday if that helps.

they look like hydroids to me, they get out of hand quickly and are considered a pest. manual removal is best

good luck

LOL!..... guess that's a +1. I'm always a tad too late. :-)

Sorry hard to get a good pic they're all over the glass, the best pic I could get was the few on the power head. Did some reading and from my understanding the hair looking things will turn into the snowflake looking things? Is this right? Also what makes them pests?

they can easily grow out of control, and are said to sting corals. personally i have had them on my glass for three years and no issues. but if i miss a day of glass cleaning they're everwhere

Hydroids if common in new system mine went away on there own in 5 weeks
