Dont know where this has come from. My tank has been up for 6 weeks and all of a sudden this appears?

Asterina starfish Link

You have the white ones, as I do and in my system they only multiply, but have not cause an issue in the past 8 months since I discovered the stars. A harlequin shrimp will take care of them but when the stars are gone, one has to either re-home the shrimp or feed the shrimp bits a pieces of live star fish or the shrimp will starve. I have an eight line wrasse and he likes shrimp, so that method of control is out. I have also read that a certain typed of star fish is also eat it's own but I am not quite sure if the star is reef safe.

I have the white variety of asterina starfish in my tank. They don't harm my corals but do multiply like crazy. I just manually remove them from time to time and put them in my sump

What corals do you have? This seems to be the white type too

i have dozens in my system and they don't both any coral or seem to eat coraline. If they do the result is negligible.

So why remove? Personal preference?
I remove because they can in time overtake your system. The dark ones will eat corals. I just do not like anything that reproduces that effectively, and I like my coralline.

Cool. And no visible effect? Ive only seen one. So i could rid my tank of it but am holding out as i think theyre cool.
