My 40g cube. 15 g wet dry system 40g live sand 20 lb dry rock. No skimmer.. on day 8 hard to tell if they are diatoms or not. They some patches do have bubbles coming out of them

That's what I figured it was but my buddies been doing it 20 years and said he's never seen it look exactly like that.. this is my first tank. Trying to gain more knowledge. Thanks for info

I'm running 1 hour 1 t5 1 hour 2t5s. 5 hrs of 2 t5s with my MH and then back to 1 hr of 2 t5 and 1 hr of 1 tf which is total of 10 hours. Is this okay for a new tank that's cycling?

I like to keep my tank on an 8 hour schedule but I know plenty of people who run they're lights for 12 hours.

I'm going to do more soft corals maybe a few easier lps to start off with being that I just got into this hobby! If you guys have any pointers let me know. All opinions welcome.

I would stop wasting the bulbs until you have something in there you actually want to grow.

(I know it can be hard to keep looking at a dark, empty tank....patience!)

[emoji106] my protein skimmer shipped early than expected. Trying out the new Eshopps s-120 s- series 4th gen 40-120g. Haven't heard anything bad or good with this new skimmer. Let me know if you guys have had any luck with it..
