Hello all I gave a few hitchikers from some corals that I got from a show 4 days again. THERE IS some pods, a bristle star ( I think), some star fish. Pods are going in my sump what about the other 2 starfishes

depends on the person, the brittle star is definitely good cuc. I would put him in the tank. Asterina starfish, some people like and other people dont. Some people claim they can take over a tank and sometimes eat zoas. I have a couple in my tank. The population is controlled and I dont see any harm to them

The bristle star is no size, I think the Clownfish or diamond goby will eat it

Bristle good and asterina star on top a no-no.
They multiply like mice, will clog intakes and pump inlets and eat zoa

Really? I have a bunch of them in my tank and (so far) seen no detrimental effects.

They do seem to be multiplying quickly. I believe one got past my coral dip and into the tank. Found it on the glass one evening a couple months back and now I seem to see several on the glass every night. I will keep an eye on pump intakes and such to be sure and clean them out if I see it.

As for eating zoas? Idk.. The jury is out on that one. None of my zoa colonies seem damaged. The crabs do more damage by tossing the frags around like gum wrappers.. lol

wrasses will likely not touch asterina and would not keep up with them. Asterinas will break off a leg and drop it. That leg becomes a new star. Both stars break off a leg(s) and become 4. Those four break of a leg or two. . you get the math
What will eat asterina stars are Harlequin shrimp. Just assure you have no fish that will eat the Harlequin

Not nearly every species of asterina eats zoas or other corals, though, and I've had a small number in most of my systems and never seen the population explosion people sometimes report.

There are bad asterina stars and there are people that remove them as soon as they are spotted, personally I don't and I have yet to run into a problem with that policy.
