Any advice on candy cane placement? This is where I put mine now. Any other suggestions?

I'm guessing your par would be in the range of 20 at 23"? Not saying it's impossible but if you are to keep that amount of par at that depth, i'd watch your coral almost daily.
If so, thats on the low side. what kind of light do you have?
i got the same frag rack too.. lol

I believe you’re right, I’m using the Nicrew hyper reef 30. Off of Amazon. It’s about 8” from the top of my tank. From very top to bottom of tank JT’s looking like 23”. Wish I had the money right now for an ai prime. That would probably do the trick

I think they are pretty adaptable, I had one that grew up and into one of the brightest parts of my tank (lights were a bit dimmer back then I expect 250+ PPFDish as I didn't have a meter) but I also had some grow in a dark corner LOL.

Wow! See they are so unpredictable! I’ve moved mine around about 3 times in total. Gonna try this spot

Pic is several years and a tank crash old now. The colony grew a bit more after this point and is now my favorite piece of live rock (i fragged it no worries). I didn't have a meter but I haven't changed the overall output much since then and it's over 400 at the top of that sinularia there now. A frag also grew behind the rock wall at very low (maybe sub 50) ppfd.
