I have a 90 gallon tank, and I am looking to increase the water movement. I have a Red Sea wave maker system. It will handle up to 4 power heads. I am not looking to change the wave maker. What I am looking for is anyone who uses power heads connected to a wave maker, and is there any brand or type of power head that works better with the on/off of a wave maker? I am going to purchase 2 power heads to start with.

If you already have the wavemaker your best choices are Hydor Evolutions, probably the 1500 models or Sicce Voyagers since both are designed to be started and stopped on wavemakers.
Another option though in the same price range is the new Jebao WP series powerheads whcih have built in controllers with mcuh more functionality, are much smaller and are DC powered. You might end up spending even less on 4 WP powerheads with two of their new dual controllers versus 4 Evolutions and sell your Red Sea unit too.

I tried two of the original Sicce Voyagers about 4 years ago but found them to be large, the brackets were not the best and they consumed about three times the power of the Evolutions that replaced them. They have a new design now and I have no experience with it but there are some reviews on reef forums to look at . The two Evolutions 1400/1500's I replaced them with had over 2.5 MILLION starts and stops on them using a Reefkeper Lite switching every 30 seconds and were near flawless. I replaced them about 4 months ago with two Jebao WP-25's and am extremely pleased with them so far.

I second the wp series. Have only heard good things. Could sell the wavemaker and pay for the wp-40

I agree.

In my 200 iv had a vortech mp40 on one side for years. On the other side ive experimented with koralias, tunzes, etc... was never happy with those, but didnt want to spend another $400. A few months ago i bought a jeabo wp 40 for that other side and am VERY pleased with its performance. I am close to saying it is as/ if not more powerful than the Vortech. It has its own controller with many different options for wave making, or even just random flow.
