Hey guys I just got my new salt water aquarium today :)! Its 60cm length width 35cm height 35cm. With live sand, 8 live rocks, hang on skimmer, light, ro and mixed ocean salt water, bacteria to make the cycle a little faster and some fish food for when I'm be getting the fish when the cycle is done. All for 220usd. Do you guys think that was a good or bad deal? This is my first time with salt water tanks so I'm just checking. Thanks :)

Welcome to R2R! I agree with @Mr Fishface. Sounds like a decent enough deal, but regardless, you are now a reefer! Congrats! Patience is the key here. Take your time, do your research, ask lots of questions, and show us a picture of your new tank. Glad to have you with us.

Nice!

You may find some of the equipment needs upgrading or isn't exactly what you would have chosen, but a complete system of mechanical and biological filtration... that's a good deal. You could have spent that on rock and sand alone.

Nice to have the chance to run something and see where it comes up short, instead of buying brand new stuff and then learning that it's coming up short ;)

Stuff that doesn't cut mustard for your display can easily be repurposed for a quarantine or hospital tank.

Well as you’ve bought it now, and are happy with it, then let’s say it a very good deal, and hopefully it will make you happy for some time as you learn the hobby. Let’s have some pictures when you get chance.

You might find these guides useful as well and anything else just ask

And welcome to R2R as well!

This is my aquarium guys. It has a NS80 Hang-on-Back Nano Skimmer - Reef Octopus, Aquaforest live rock, live sand and 36 by 5 LED lights. The lights have dark blue, light blue, green, pink, red, orange, blue green pink mix ,orange and red mix which looks the most like white. 1 urchin and some snails.

Nice rockscape. Lots of surface area and light exposure.
I don't trust that rock on the far left. Looks like it might tip over and might be a touch too close to the glass to get a scraper in there.

Love it!

Thanks man :) I'll make sure that the rock is in a good place. Btw I just went to a local pet store with some water they told me that the salinity is at 25. Is that okay?

1.025 is spot on.
25 ppt (parts per thousand) would be considerably too low. PPT goal is 35.
Hopefully, if it was that low, they'd let you know you had missed the mark.

Welcome to R2R.

Looks like you have a pretty good start!! This is a very exciting time!!

I do have a question though. WIthout the tank being established and having enough algae in it, how are you feeding the urchin?

I was always under the impression that these guys did better in established (dare I say dirty) tanks.

I am happy to be corrected if I am wrong (and eager to learn something new!!).

Hey and thanks for the welcome :)
You are correct the urchin does eat detritus and algae. But my friend used to had one the grew too much so he relocated it to another tank, he got it with his new tank and he kept feeding it normal fish food. They will eat the left over fish food/dead fish if I am correct so yeah I think they do like dirty tanks

For a total package and water ready- Fair deal. You are a REEFER on R2R and that is what counts !!

HAPPY REEFING !!
