My hydor external just died and I'm looking to get an internal skimmer. Any recommendations? I have about 200 total water volume and would like to stay below 300

How's coral box?

I have a bit more total volume at approx 280 and run a BubbleKing Supermarin 200. It’s amazing and would suit you well if you’re mid to heavily stocked.

Because it's on sale now I'd probably go with a Vertex 180i. Second choice either Eshopps X-220 or Octopus 202S.

Just purchased a reef octopus SRO 5000 ext. for my 300DD. Expensive ,but the thing is a beast. Very happy with it so far.

Look for a skimmer that has a pump that can easily be replaced. DO NOT choose a skimmer that has a proprietary pump design! I learned the hard way. My Aquamaxx skimmer died 6 months in & it only has 1 option for a replacement pump... at $259+.

Decided to pick up a used LifeReef Skimmer & now I can add whatever pump I want to it.

My local forum has this for sale. I would buy used if you have a local forum

Id rather buy a used best skimmer like bubble king or deltec or downdraft or beckett. This way youll know its performing like it should.
