Hello all, I have a question on quarantine for a small purple tang that i might buy

So the tang has hlle, and has ragged fins due to another purple tang being in the tank with it\

What would be the most ideal quarantine procedure for this fish?
Thanks!

I already have cupramine copper (should i get copper powder?), and general cure

If I understand correctly, this fish has been contained with another tang for some time now. In between the lines, it’s not the LFG?
While one is drawn to helping the little guy out.. you sure about this?
To copper: it is not likely that you deal with ick or velvet, and that’s their only role.
Antibiotics may be helpful to have on hand... just in case of wound infection.
If this fish has been stable without exposure, there is also no reason to believe in flukes.
I would advise observation, TLC, absence of activated carbon. Lots of Nori, good water parameters.
You may receive some pushback for 40g/Purple tang,
but this forum is meant for help and support.

i asked about the tang in another forum "Should i buy", and the majority said that i should get it
I am gonna upgrade my fowlr tank in the future, so he will go to that when he outgrows

Local fish guy.
So common diseases are ick and velvet. Highly contagious. Common. You often find stores running low salinity and low copper to suppress but not eradicate. It felt to me that you get the fish from a friend. So we may not be 100% sure. Howevercopper suppressed the immune system and suppresses appetite. This would usually be a reason not to start copper right away. So if store bought, I really would want you to start of on the right foot. If you want this dude, I would fresh water dip for flukes differential diagnosis, copper or antibiotics if needed only. Many will run 2 courses of Prazi on all fish. (Or API general cure). Add oxygen.
Don’t want to sound critical. I started my YT in a 38, before buying a 60, before buying him a 150, before getting him a 200. He’s still with me running the tank.

Well the problem is usually that copper there is non therapeutic dose. So the Tang may not have ick/velvet or else it’s just hidden. We just don’t know unless there would be signs.
Freshwater dip helps to diagnose flukes.
General cure works against flukes, too, with some uncertaint of neobenedenea.

the copper probably is under the 2.0 level, so should i just keep an eye on it for ich/velvet and just use general cure?
I dont think i should do the fw because of more stress to the fish

Maybe i could get a picture of the fish and put it here is i see anything but the frayed fins and hlle
I could ask the lfs to put it on hold for me

What medications would be useful to keep on hand?
Most likely going to pick him up today if he looks ok and eats
