I have a 30 gallon tank with a 5 gallon or so refugium and am looking to upgrade the intake pump to the refugium. The turnover is not enough. Any suggestions on pumps?

That’s a pretty hard question to answer without more details. What pump are you using now and how much flow are you getting? How much more flow are you looking for? How much head height is there (how high does the pump need to move the water)? If you post a picture of how you have things configured that might help too.

You do not have to go nuts on flow from sump to display. Honestly i like just enough flow that the detritus that passes my skimmer makes it to the fuge and then is deposited there. After enough time has passed filter feeders, bristle worms will be in enough quantities to make my filter sock obsolete. For me this is the 2-3 year mark give or take. This is also my opinion :)

Sorry for the late response. The pump I’m currently using came with the refugium and tanks they are from fijicube. I can’t say exactly. I just know the trickling of water isn’t a good turn over rate so I just need something a little more powerful. Around a foot. I will post a pic soon. Thanks!

Thanks for sharing your experience. The problem is, it’s not even enough for that. It’s a light trickle.
