looking to get an RODI unit but don't know which to get, I don't want to spend an arm and a leg >$200 would be great but willing to spend a bit more if need be and I would like one that has a good ratio of clean water to waste water. Suggestions?

Haha they should pay you to be a spokesperson! You have me sold, I'll probably order it tomorrow morningYou replace the sediment and carbon block filters every 6 months and the DI resin whenever it is no longer 0 TDS in the treated water. For most users this ends up costing about 5 cents per gallon of RO/DI when you average it out.
Most filters are a standard 10" nominal size but there are many many different quality levels. Myself I have owned systems from 6 different manufacturers or vendors and today I will only buy from Spectrapure. They are the ONLY vendor to specially treat all their RO membranes proven to increase their performance then to either batch test them or individually hand test each and every one in the case of their Select series guaranteed 99% rejection rate membranes. They also are the only vendor to custom blend every ounce of their own DI resins in house based on thousands of hours of both real world beta testing around the globe and bench testing in their facility in Tempe AZ. On top of that they only offer sediment and carbon block filters they subject to intense testing to ensure they meet their strict quality control and one of only a couple that use only capillary tube flow restrictors which are far superior to the normal fixed type restrictors most use. Yes you could buy from BRS or wherever but it would not be the same quality. For instance BRS uses a coarse 5 micron nominal rated sediment filter while Spectrapure uses a 1 micron in their refurbished systems and a 0.5 micron absolute rated sediment filter in their Chloramine special system. Since we know you can actually see 40 microns with the unaided human eye, 5 microns nominal is about as effective as a screen door compared to 0.5 micons absolute when it comes to protecting the billions of tiny microscopic pores in the carbon block where the chlorine is adsorbed.
If you have a little time on your hands, go to the Spectrapure website, scroll down to the bottom of the page and read through their FAQ section and why their systems are different than other and what that means to you. There really is a difference.
