There is really no way to be certain what type of Asterina it is. Most are common algae eaters but population control becomes problematic, the rare few can be coral eaters. I am a wait and see person but I understand that other feel that they should be removed when found.
 
its an asterina. Some dont like them, some do.
I dont, Ive caught them munching on my zoas/palys before.
 
don't add them. most likely, someday, one will somehow show up and be likely fine. BUT until that day, do not purposely add them.
 
One thing I will say is their numbers can get out of control as Tahoe pointed out
