Hey guys and gals. I'm trying to get into the stick game after only having LPS. What would be some good sticks that don't need massive amounts of lights?

I have a quad T5 fixture running ATI bulbs. I have a grape and red Monti Cap growing well. The grape Monti is growing like a weed. I realize Caps are on the low end of lighting requirements for SPS. Are there any sticks in the same ballpark? Would it be wiser to venture into encrusting Monti's before sticks? Thanks for any suggestions.

You could do some montipora digitatas. Like a forest fire or a sets maybe try a green slimer.

I think you're fine going straight for acropora. If you can go caps fine you can grow acros fine.

Most places that sell Acro's list the care level. Just try to only buy the ones that don't say "intense lighting" or strong. There's lots of good sticks that grow great in moderate light.

T5 lighting is plenty strong enough for sps, I grew pretty much everything with a 4 bulb t5 fixture with ati bulbs and have the pics to prove it. Light is important but water quality and stability is just as important or more imo. Just try some good proven aquacultured sticks and you should do just fine providing your parameters are in check.

You should try your luck with a birdsnest and/or pocilliopora. Encrusting montis should be on that list too before you move onto acropora.
