this star appeared recently. Have had my tank set up for over a year now. Not sure if I should banish it to the sump or not….I do have acans and zoanthids and some chalice in my tank. Wondering if this can eat the flesh off of my chalices. I have read about people finding stars that do such terrible things. Sorry about the picture. It is between the size of a dime and a nickel. Sorta a fat star with big body and short legs.

I see more than one in the second picture, so more than likely you have several more. Yes they do look like asterina stars to me as well. I personally do not have any issues with the ones in my tank, but from what I understand there are many different types.

Thanks everyone for your replies and help. I will keep an eye on them…. they fat little things and they are symmetrical. i see asterinas as all mis shapen...
