Have you flooded this yet? Would love to see an update.
Thanks for the reply, glad I got the e-mail notification because I have not updated in TOO LONG!
Since the last post life has been busy with travel, some fun, and other commitments...Pictures will be added below the post
Lets get this started.
1) I had originally planned to use some rare earth magnets to make some doors, I got the magnets in and they did not hold the plywood (should have gone thinner). I ended up scrapping that idea and enlisted the help of a good friend who is a trim carpenter. After politely confronting my amateur framework (lol) we got to work. He had some old cypress laying around and we proceeded to add another layer of trim with nice mitered edges and beautifully grained cypress. The doors are almost finished so the stand should be completed within the next week or so. We also squared/enlarged up the plumbing hole and that will allow the PVC to have some more wiggle room, it was very tight before..
2) I leak tested the tank twice - the first go I had some slight leaks but after making some adjustments (including a layer of silicone around the return bulkhead because I slightly chipped my drilling hole) she held up.
3) Still need to paint plumbing
4) I am eyeing a setup date of July 17-22 as the lady and step kids will be out of town and I can work in silence. This involves me ordering some TBS live rock sometime in the near future. I'm planning on seeding the tank with that and few small pieces from the 14.
Pics of the stand and current tank below. I am running out of room and fast. The SPS are doing extremely well, still have zoa issues, and most LPS are healthy. I can't freaking wait to give some pieces (alveopora, pectinia, favias ect) the room/display space they deserve....
I think I've also decided that I'm just going to pick up another Maxspect Jump and run two over the new build. For the price and results, I don't think I can do much better.
