Had a gorg for the better part of 2 years. It has grown to an impressive size. I've had some algae issues but I think it is still alive. Any thoughts on how to keep the algae off it other than removing it from the water and shaking it in a clean bucket?

Direct flow to the gorg but without blasting it. They require good light and Good flow

Thanks. It grew from a single stick of 4-5" to a huge mass of gorg over the course of a few years so it was getting plenty of light and flow over the years. Maybe I need to move it to a different part of the tank again.

What kind is it?

I have a purple bottle brush gorg.

I keep it in moderate flow to help keep it clean.

But like you, sometimes I see algae or stuff on it, and usually when it’s all closed up.

I have a very soft bristle toothbrush that I use to gently brush them clean.

I’ve had this gorg in 3 different tanks over 4 years or more and no ill effects from cleaning it.

I have mine in high flow and they love it, to clean them I stroke them or use a soft brush, about every 2 weeks they get a blast in front of a powerhead and a good shake.

I second the turkey baster, good for keeping algae at bay and I also use it to clean them while they shed.
