Hi

Picked up i believe it is a gorgon coral from my guy

Thought it was moderate flow-placed on bottom middle of tank-

I have for powerhead maxspect gyre 250

Water flow to me seems indirect

Put into tank late last night-the branches do wiggle back and forth from water and came home and there is white strings-like cotton coming from branches

Too much flow????? I do apologize pic not the best

So just saw on another thread

Gorgons need to stay fully immersed even when putting i to tank or when putting glue to base

10% or less survival rate if not fully submersed

Fact or fiction

I honestly dont know. I have a photosynthetic gorg who I've had out of the water on several occasions. Probably had it close to 3 years now and it has never seemed to exhibit any issues.

Fiction. Mine are out of the water for about 15 mins every water change. May be true with some of the non photosynthetic ones I guess but definitely not any of the photosynthetic ones that are commonly kept.

Agree fiction.. I have 4 or 5 varieties and have moved them from tanks, fragged etc.. no harm done

Photosynthetic gorgonia in most cases are pretty flexible other than a few.
I usually for medium flow and medium light.. They do like some current so they can shed any algae and to bring food to them..
While some will do well without feedings I find they do better with some food.

Fiction.. no more than any other coral...

Mater of fact I have had them shipped wrapped in wet paper towel.

I watched a documentary and saw that dolphins rub themselves on gorgonians. I decided then that I prolly didn't have too much flow on mine.

Thought it was pretty cool. There's a later episode where the dolphins literally pick up rocks and Coral and watch them fall like it is the greatest thing ever. It was pretty awesome.
