I just got this gorgonian today. After drip acclimation and dipping in KoralMD, I put it in my tank. It has been in there for a couple hours now and is still laying on its side. I’ve had 2 gorgonians in the past that never did this. Is it normal?

I picked up a frag a couple months ago, and I can't for the life of me get it to stay upright. BUT, the new growth is growing up, so there is that.

I am new to gorgonians, but yours looks healthy and has good polyp extension, which is usually a good sign.

Interesting, maybe this species is just not as sturdy as some others. My others are very stiff, this one seems pretty floppy. I hope mine starts to grow up like yours.

Was it attached to anything? Did u epoxy the gorg itself in the rock work?

It was on a frag plug at the store, but I asked the guy if he could get as much of the plug off as possible. When I got home and looked at it, it looked like he took it completely off the plug. I glued the very bottom tip onto the rock

Looks healthy...looks like that's the way it was glued. I'd pull it and stick it upright in a hole in a rock and glue around the hole standing it up. My guess is a fish or flow knocked it over before the glue hardened.

Alright, I’ll try gluing it somewhere where it isn’t at an angle. So it’s ok to glue the bottom of the gorgonian directly onto the rock, right?

I've seen videos where you can shave off the bottom of the frags flesh and stick the non living portion into a hole to glue. Much easier since the living flesh slimes up...then the gorg will encrust to the rock/frag plug etc. Good luck. Might even be able to pull up videos on youtube.

The reason I asked is because gorgs have a rod in the center of them surrounded by flesh. I've found if u epoxy the flesh or bury it, it tends to rot....when I frag mine I remove the flesh to the rod and epoxy up to the flesh.

I’ve actually made that mistake of gluing the flesh, too. This one was shaved down to the rod at the bottom and that is the only part that I put glue on.

Should b fine then u can leave it laying or try regluing again.
