Hi,

I just got this gorgonian, one branch has some brown stuff/patch on it and won't open, but other branches open up and looks healthy.

What shall I do with that branch?
Shall I cut it or just let it be?
Will it recover?

Thanks

It looks like a dusting of brown algae has covered the polyps. Try using a pipette to blow the algae off, otherwise you may need a SOFT bristled brush to do the job. Just make sure the polyps are retracted before you brush over them.

I agree with this. The gorg may even shed that algae itself with no intervention.
