I just got in a new batch of Gulf live rock and a big gorgonian came in with it. I got one of these on a prior batch of rock but I was a real newbie then and it had no chance.

I can see what looks like bleaching and some tissue recession. My question is does this guy have a chance to survive?

Lack of light or water flow will cause this. Did it get exposed to air? Air will cause partial drying out

Does it actually looked bleached out or are the polyps retracted. That's what mine looks like when I brush it with the magfloat

It was shipped moist/wet but not submerged. Think it can survive?

This is a newer tank that I cycled with Caribsea live rock. I just added the Gulf live rock and I’m expecting to get another big cycle as stuff on the that died decomposes.

Some areas where the polyps did not come out have died. Other areas with polyps continue to hold on but I don’t have much hope.

On a brighter note there are 4-5 Caribbean rise corals that were in bad shape look like they will make it.

Hard to say I would put it somewhere with high laminar flow and just wait and see. Try to keep algae from growing on any of parts that do die back.

I had one of these hitchhike on my rock as well. It’s extremely hardy just don’t put it in too much light.
