Not a tank emergency, but concerning enough to ask for advice. Last night I had to remove a small dead purple whip gorgonian from my tank. Still had some flesh on it. Forgot to take out the trash can and I suspect one of my dogs got into the trash and ate most of it. She has a history of eating weird ****.

I suspect it happened between noon and now (6:40pm). She’s acting normal, no puke or any signs of problems. The gorg was pretty small, 2 thin branches about 6” tall.

So, strange situation for me. Obviously if it was a paly or zoa I’d be at the Emergency Vet right now. But I’ve never read anything about toxins associated with photosynthetic gorgs.

My plan is to observe unless anyone has heard of gorg ingestion being toxic or fatal to dogs. Thanks.

A first for me, I've never heard of an issue w/ them, but then I don't recall anyone/thing eating one before...

Keep a watch and good luck.

Thanks. If there is any dog that would eat a dried out coral it would be mine. Sometimes I’m amazed she’s made it 12 years...

Just in case i will go to the vet for a stomach wash. Probably dont happen anything but just in case.

Have it drink lots of water.
To my knowledge Gorg not harmful and once it hits air, like sponge, it will deteriorate
