I’ve been considering adding a photosynthetic gorgonian to my tank. I’m having trouble wrapping my head around the fact that Gorgs are in the same family as corals. Maybe because they look more plant-like? I don’t know. :) In any case, do these guys get dipped like any other coral does? Can you scrub them with a toothbrush? I’m worried about killing/damaging it. Thanks!

I have photosynthetic Gorgonians in my tank and I never dipped them. They are easy to grow and maintain. Periodically, I will feed them pods and coral food...they love it! They are easier to keep than their non photosynthetic cousins.

Did you do anything to prevent pests before putting the gorgonian in your tank?

No, and I have had them numerous times. I have the Bushy Sea Rod and have had Briareum before too. Very hardy with no problems. Maybe I have been lucky!

That’s great to hear. Hopefully I am just as lucky! Where did you buy yours?

I bought them so long ago, I believe I got them when I lived in Myrtle Beach, SC. I can’t remember...lol
