Gorilla crab?

Saw a molt so I went on a crab hunt and got lucky and caught it with ease. Anyone know what it is and how it got in my tank? I started my 55 with dry rock a year ago and just recently started up a 220 and transfer everything over and I put two rocks in the display from the old tank and the rest were new. I quit adding coral over 6 months ago did it come on some coral and make it through a dip and lived in my tank for that long without me knowing? Could it be the reason why all my hammers died?

The hairy legs body and pinchers and what looks like a black tip on the pinchers would make me say yes but with all the different species of crabs out there, I'm not the best at id'ing them. I can say for sure not reef safe. Throw him in the sump or trade him in to Lfs.

Couldn't say that's what happened to your hammers but it's possible. I would say yes definitely came from coral and has been hiding all that time. I have had gorilla crabs come into my tank by hiding deep under or inside lps skeletons and avoiding Bayer dip.
