Hi all. Looking for advice. I have a pink gorniporia that I got 3 weeks ago and it was fully opening for the first 2 1/2 weeks. I am target feeding Reef Revolution powder mixed with RO water I have a torch, bubble, 3 zoa colonies, Duncan, ricordea and GSP that are all doing well in the same tank.
The Goni has not opened in several days.

water parameters are

calcium 440
Magnesium 1440
KH 8.9
Salinity 1.025
Ph 8.0
Temp 78
Phosphate..1
Nitrate 10
Nitrite 0
I have low on tank in low flow and low light.
65 gallon tank

Put it in a higher light/ flow area. When i got my goni frag it was open first 2 days. I put it in a lower light and flow area and for 2 weeks it wouldnt open and algea started to grow on it. I finally changed it to a high flow high light and now its open everyday and growing. Hope this helps. I tried dips didnt do a thing.

It might be worth moving it to see if a change of flow can help, your water parameters look ok. Ive found they like a good amount of water flow. All the big ones I have are in medium to high flow areas.

To be honest, I’ve found with the pink ones this can happen, I had something similar happen and the coral slowly faded away unfortunately But I didn’t try moving it.

First 2 pics are how it looked for weeks. Last pic i just took of what it looks like today after moving it.

Isn't it better to use tank water to mix powdered food? The fresh water might shock them. I have always used tank water with no problems.

My pink is like that and has since slowly deteriorated to a skeleton of its former self. I still have a few polyps that open and seem to have stabilized in its current condition this is despite of me using all the different light and flow permutations (testing each for months to make sure proper acclimation) the tank is otherwise very pro coral conditions as all my other sps and lps are growing.

I'm just resigned to the reality that some pinks are just hard to keep, esp if you get a super sensitive specimen where the condition it grow up in is so different from your tank that it just never the same

FYI, the ORA red is supposed to be hardier to the point where it may not require target feeding.

I have one of these red ORAs, and after moving him up into better flow, he's happier, only 2 months in though. Live plankton 2x a week, 10 ppm nitrate, 0.07 po4.
Good luck and keep us posted.

Thanks for all the tips. Gonna move to higher flow and light and see how it goes.
