The other wrasses seem ok, besides the pintail?
I think so. Not swimming much but not hiding either.

And as I typed that above the pin tail looked at me and jumped out the tank. Put him into the other tank with the radiant and others.

The KwaZulu and radiant have taken a few pellets. The rose band has good color and no listing or rapid breath.

Not cool. I'm sorry:(

Omg... hopefully the pintail settles down soon. If none of the other fish look to be struggling I think I’d maybe add just a quarter of what the bottle says... let them sit with that for an hour or two and see what they do. Are you still waiting on the test kit or do you have something now?

This is one of those “tightrope” moments, move too fast and shock the fish... move too slow and velvet makes it all a mute point [emoji31] Once you get past this and everyone is sitting happy at .5, it gets much easier.

Yep, The tester arrived this morning. Thinking ill dose the tangs, angel and Rose Band and wait on the other tank a bit.

The Pin Tails got the most sentimental value to me. My first ever Fairy and its matured from a juvenile to a mature male with me.

Anxiety is back!!

@ngoodermuth You are an angel to walk him through this. Thank you.

I’m doing my best, those losses hurt me. I get emotionally invested in these things... Wrasses are tough though, they can be so finicky.

I don’t blame you, I’ve got a special place for my flame wrasse... and he’s not even my first one. But, jordani just have the most awesome personalities and this one is especially tame.

Just make sure you go SLOW, and test often until you get there...don’t rely on the instructions on the bottle...

Without your help Id have lost more than two Im sure. The reason i never QT’d to begin with is because I lost a flasher within 30 minutes of my first attempt. That soured me on the whole thing.

Safe to follow the instructions on bottle correct? Think I'm going to halve it anyway and spread the dose a few hours.

I would definitely halve it, and it’s a pain...but test as you go. Every tank is going to be a little different with absorption, etc.

I would give it like 20-30 minutes to mix and then test... it doesn’t take too long to distribute. Red flags will be heavy breathing, lethargic, off equilibrium, etc.

I usually take a little container of tank water, add the drops there, and then slowly pour it in front of the powerhead. If they start darting around or spazzing out... stop, and give them some time to adjust, before pouring more.

So I know .5 is the goal but where should I target for today? Im at .13 after that 1st dose and they all seem fine at the moment.

In the other tank Im pretty sure the Pin Tail will be gone soon.

:( I hope he can hang in there... how’s the aeration in the tank? Anything you can do to add more 02, adding an airstone maybe?

I usually aim for .2 in the first day... then go a little more slowly from there. Ideally, you want to be at .35 at least within the first 48 hours. After that, you can pretty much go as slow as you want... it will definitely suppress the velvet from that point on.
