Got a UV sterilizer with a tank, never used one. Help?

Is this worth anything? should i throw it in my sump and use it in the 220 fowlr build?

The specs have it rated at 75 gallons. I doubt it would help much with a 220. That being said you could keep it on hand incase you get a bacterial bloom or something like that.

Don't use that thing. I bought one because of bacteria bloom in one of my tanks. Worked ok once or twice but third time I plugged it in it shorted out and almost killed everything in my tank.

If you do decided to use it against all warnings, I suggest you test it out in a bucket of water first.

well yes, i test all used gear before i do anything of course. it came with a tank i picked up, that ended up not working out the way it was supposed to and essentially got it for free, so i was more curious.

IMO - it is a toy according to the UV-C. However - the pump could be good - but the UV-C in this unit is a joke IMO

I have the same one. I plugged it in and left it. I figure if anything algae control but that's probably all its good for. In a 220 its probably insignificant but if its not an eyesore every little bit helps I guess.

This unit is not going to do anything meaningful to your tank.

It will work fine on a smaller QT.
